Hazoori Kirtanees, Parchariks Protest Desecration – Boycott Priests, Demand Resignations

AMRITSAR SAHIB –  In defiance of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), employees,  kirtanis and other parchariks lead a march in Amritsar demanding to take stern action against those responsible foe the desecrations in Punjab, and demanded the resignation of the priests who had pardoned the controvercial cultists Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

On Tuesday, the parchariks protested when priest Gurbachan Singh showed up to attend the bhog of Sri Akhand Path at Gurdwara Manji Sahib. They stated that the ‘pardon’ by the priests had brought disgrace to the authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib which led to incidents of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab. Unwelcome, Gurbachan Singh left the scene quickly after the ardas as the kirtanees and parchariks expressed their displeasure and resentment for his appearance.

Ragi Ravinder Singh questioned that why Gurbachan Singh arrived at the “bhog” ceremony without any invitation. “There is much resentment and disappointment among Sikhs around the world on the decision of the clergy on Gurmeet Ram Rahim,” he said.

Ragi Surjit Singh stated that if the jathedar wanted to attend the program, then he should have first taken the moral responsibility and resigned from his post. He said the sangat would continue their protests against the priests until they resign for their positions.

On a side note, the priests have attempted to call a meeting to meet with all ex-priests and Jathedars for advise, including Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, Giani Puran Singh, and others, but have purposely avoided contacting Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh Ji who has openly called the priests shamless “prostitues” of Badal (ਬਾਦਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇਸ਼ਰਮ ਵੇਸਵਾਂਵਾਂ).
